I love love LOVE the Tony Awards, and this is the first year in forever that I don't feel let down by the list of nominees. Seeing Young Frankenstein and The Little Mermaid rejected to make room for Passing Strange and In the Heights? AWESOME. I'm a little bummed that Nathan Lane (November) and Norbert Leo Butz (Is He Dead?) got snubbed, but I'm still excited as hell for the broadcast.
For the record, here are my predictions (for a full list of nominees, check out the ATW's website):
MUSICAL: In the Heights
REVIVAL - MUSICAL: Sunday in the Park with George
PLAY: August: Osage County
REVIVAL - PLAY: The Homecoming
BOOK OF A MUSICAL: Passing Strange
ORIGINAL SCORE: In the Heights
ACTOR - PLAY: Patrick Stewart
LEAD ACTRESS - PLAY: Eve Best
LEAD ACTOR - MUSICAL: Lin-Manuel Miranda
LEAD ACTRESS - MUSICAL: PATTI LUPONE
FEATURED ACTOR - PLAY: Jim Norton
FEATURED ACTRESS - PLAY: Rondi Reed
FEATURED ACTOR - MUSICAL: Robin De Jesus
FEATURED ACTRESS - MUSICAL: Laura Benanti
DIRECTION OF PLAY: Anna D. Shapiro
DIRECTION OF A MUSICAL: Sam Buntrock
CHOREOGRAPHY: In the Heights
ORCHESTRATIONS: Passing Strange
Keep in mind that these are who I think will win, not necessarily who I want to win (I'm crossing my fingers for a Boeing-Boeing win). As far as the scenic/technical Tonys are concerned, I can't even begin to guess. I did really well with my predictions for the Oscars, though, so hopefully these awards will follow suit. Regardless, Sondheim is getting a Lifetime Achievement Tony, so that alone will be worth watching.

What is up, Chad
I'm already halfway through the third and final quarter of my freshman year of college. Where the hell did this school year go? Still haven't figured out what I'm doing this summer (I've narrowed it down to a) work at camp again, b) get an internship, c) get a job or two at home), but this Thursday I'm roadtripping to Washington, D.C. with one (maybe two) of my friends. I've been to D.C. three times, all for the March For Life in January, so I'm excited to see the city minus the subzero temperatures and inches of slush that have dominated my previous visits.
Oh, and I dominated another round of Oh It's That Guy: caught a rerun of a 2005 episode of Law & Order SVU starring none other than Angela Lansbury and Alfred Molina. I was hoping for some kind of eleventh-hour duet, but you can't win 'em all.

Maiden voyage
Tomorrow marks the 96th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15th, 1912. When I was about twelve or thirteen, I went through a HUGE Titanic phase, wherein I researched all I could about the doomed vessel. I read every book I could find, from children's novelizations to the transcripts from the actual government hearings held after the sinking, watched all the film adaptations, went to two traveling museum exhibits, and even got my hands on a vintage t-shirt that reads "RMS TITANIC CREW" with the White Star Line flag. Like most things, I grew out of the phase eventually, and most of the minute facts I'd memorized faded away, but if you have any interest in history I suggest you read up on the ship. Fascinating stuff.

Quickie
Blame my busy schedule for the complete dearth of posts since January. I'm looking at buying a domain name and getting a host sometime in the fall, though, so that should prove to be a good time.
Quick link spam:
01. How much do I love Disney/Pixar? SO much. And they've released their animation schedule for the next four years. Up sounds particularly adorable.
02. Improv Everywhere gave two little league teams the best game EVER. Things like this just make me smile.
03. Characters agree: LOST is confusing. I seriously LOL-ed at this.
04. I prefer even numbers, so...
